Choice of Material
Recessed covers are available for concreting in, bolting on, and with a floating frame for regulating the frame height.
See drawing below.
Load:
The covers are designed acc. to EN124, for the following loads: 1.5t, 12.5t, 25t, and 40t .
The load class depends on the location of the cover. See Figure 9a and Table 1.
Standard sizes: see Table 2
Choice of Material:
Recessed covers are made from the following materials:
Steel St37 is hot-dip galvanized as per DS/EN ISO 1461-1999, stainless steel A2 = AISI 304, or acid-resistant A4 = AISI 316.
Equipment:
For safety reasons, the covers are always equipped with a safety support for the lid, preventing unintentional closing when work is carried out at the cover.
Furthermore, the covers are equipped with locking bolts and a hole for a T-key.
Apart from the standard equipment, additional equipment for the cover should be chosen based on the location and function of the cover.
The type of cover is determined from Table 3.
Example:
A recessed cover with an inside measure of 800 x 1,000 mm (hinged side 800 mm), lid and frame of hot-dip galvanized steel, load 25t.
The opening force without spring assist is approx. 80 kg, thereby exceeding current requirements and the cover should be equipped with our spring system for a reduction to the allowed opening force.
Type Inside measure Material Load Spring Assist Extra Equipment
PF 800 x 1,000 ST 25t F=11-20 kg Table 3
The cover is equipped with internal handles in the lid (for ladder) and is given the type designation:
PF – 080 x 100 – ST – C250 – F20 – B – N – H
Yrkesinspektionens krav er, at åbnekraften i Sverige ikke må overstige 20 kg.
